Mark Cunnane produced a document listing the people from Prestwood that fought and died in WW1. The names were taken from the war memorial. It is reproduced here along with images from the various Cemeteries around the world where the war dead are honoured for their sacrifice.<\/p>\n

THIRTY MEN<\/h3>\r\n

In Prestwood\u2019s orchards they once played<\/strong>\r\n And dreamed beneath the cherry\u2019s shade.<\/strong>\r\n They lazed away their summer days<\/strong>\r\n So happy in their country ways.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Then bravely came their time to fight<\/strong>\r\n They went to war for what was right.<\/strong>\r\n With heads held high, yet mothers crying<\/strong>\r\n And nowhere was the thought of dying.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n
