Wesleyan Church, Prestwood 1915
On Thursday, January 1st, 1915 at 3pm, the opening of the new organ took place. The Rev W Seed of High Wycombe kindly officiated. After a brief prayer, Mr Seed took the key and declared the organ open and hoped that it would be a great blessing to the Church and the neighbourhood. An excellent sermon was preached by the Rev Seed. Mr R Perry of Little Kimble kindly officiated at the organ.
At 4pm an organ recital was given by Mr Perry which was greatly appreciated by all. A public tea followed when large numbers attended.
In the evening a public meeting was held when Mr R Goodearl of High Wycombe took the chair, supported by the Rev Seed and Rev T Rowson (Baptist Pastor, of Great Missenden). Appended is the programme – Anthem, “Jerusalem”, choir, organ solo, “Festive March”, Mr Perry; solo Mrs Farrow; carol, choir; organ solo “Jerusalem the Golden” Mr Perry; carol, choir; solo Mrs Crook; organ solo, Mr Perry; solo “When you come home” Miss Little; carol, choir.
After the collection the report was read when it was found that £145 had been raised towards the £150 which the organ is to cost. The organ is a two manual, in fumed oak, built by Mr J Holt, Pioneer Works, Birmingham. At the close of the meeting votes of thanks were given to all who had contributed to the success of the proceedings and especially to Mr Little of Bishopstone, who had kindly got the organ for the Church and to Mr Perry who had given such a musical treat to Prestwood.
